AESTHETIC ALTERATIONS COMES TO PHILBROOK

Every so often, we like to highlight a blog that has been kind enough to talk about us. Today we are focusing on on called Aesthetic Alterations. They made a recent visit to Philbrook and here's a snippet of what they had to say...

"This past weekend, MP and I went off to Tulsa in search of art. While I expected to be happy during my first visit to the Philbrook Museum (one of the top 50 museums in the country), I didn't expect to be overjoyed. Surprise! Not only was a stunning Rauschenberg print exhibit hanging in the temporary space, the grounds were beautiful. 23 acres of manicured gardens, complete with tempietto. We immediately signed up for a membership, and I anticipate returning twice a month or more."

Through the eyes of an Intern

My time at the Philbrook has taught me a number of things. The preparation it takes to present a gallery to the public and the number of people involved to maintain historical treasures. The one thing that I have enjoyed most about being at the Philbrook is that it showed me how to look at things in everyday life with a new perspective.

Sometimes you have to stop for a moment and look more closely at the things around you...

PHIL AND THE KING

Phil tagged along with one of our Facebook fans and paid a visit to Memphis today. He even had a moment to pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. Rumor has it that one of Phil's uncles was used to make one of Elvis' first guitars. But who knows if that's true.

MTV TURNS 30 TODAY

MTV is celebrating their 30th anniversary today. On this date in 1981, the cultural landscape was changed when music shifted from merely an audio format, to a audio/visual format. This change was noted in the first video ever aired on the channel, "Video Killed The Radio Star" by The Buggles. Take a look at this video and think back about how many music videos had an impact on you and the collective pop culture memory.
