TYPEFACE on STUDIO TULSA
Unfortunately, due to yesterday's winter weather, we were forced to cancel our 3rd Thursday event. We were going to screen the documentary TYPEFACE and hear from the film's director, Justine Nagan. However, Justine did get a chance to do a great interview with Rich Fisher on Studio Tulsa (KWGS 89.5). To listen CLICK HERE.

TYPEFACE/3rd THURSDAY

In a time when people can carry computers in their pockets and watch TV while walking down the street, Typeface dares to explore the twilight of an analog craft that is freshly inspiring artists in a digital age. Documentary filmmaker Justine Nagan explores American typography and graphic design through the lens of a small museum in Wisconsin. Justine and her typographic film make up our January program, presented in affiliation with the Art Directors Club of Tulsa.
Take note of the earlier start time of 5:30, with the program/film beginning at 6:30. This is worth getting out in the cold to Philbrook early on Jan. 20. Don’t kick yourself later for missing it. We’ll see you and all our type freak friends here.

Paper Cuts by Thomas Allen
Last fall we had the great opportunity to host artist Thomas Allen for a lecture during one of our popular 3rd Thursday events. At the talk he premiered a new visual presentation of his work. On a recent blog post he wrote:
"I started this pseudo self-promo a couple of years ago, but became frustrated by the aging processor in my old Powerbook that failed to consistently sync the soundtrack with the visuals. I finally threw up my hands and walked away from it — until a few months ago when I was invited to Tulsa to give a public presentation at the Philbrook Museum of Art."

Here is the presentation. It's worth your time.
